The Gimp

The Gimp is an awesome software application. Its a bitmap graphics editing program, similar to Photoshop.

It can handle most file types:

  • JPEG
  • GIF
  • PNG
  • PSD
  • BMP

It has the usual tools as well:

  • Paintbrush
  • Airbrush
  • Pencil
  • Mask
  • Eyedropper
  • Magnifying glass
  • Gradient
  • Magic wand
  • Rubber stamp
  • Blur

The Gimp is quite easy to use as well, but the set of tools are so complicated its really helpful to have a book as a reference.
